POSITION SUMMARY

Playbook is seeking a results-oriented self-starter to help grow Playbook’s Data, Analytics and Insights work. The role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day needs of clients and other client services team members via Accounts and Activation teams, develop and deliver research specific projects for clients, as well as develop marketing/business development tools, using research to grow business.

Playbook is seeking a results-oriented self-starter to lead the evolution and growth of Playbook’s Data, Analytics, and Insights practice. This Sr. Manager-level role will require candidate to service across

  1. Client Service & Delivery: You will serve as the primary analytics lead for our active roster, supporting the day-to-day needs of clients and internal Account/Activation teams. You will be responsible for delivering research-specific projects, measuring campaign performance, and providing the data-driven insights that guide our clients' sponsorship strategies.

  2. Product Innovation: You will lead the architecture and development of the Playbook Performance Center—our proprietary in-house analytics ecosystem. This requires a forward-thinking strategist who can leverage AI agents (e.g., Gemini, Copilot) and manage third-party developers to build tools that synthesize data and streamline our internal workflows.

The ideal candidate is a motivated and ambitious individual who has the ability to work independently and within a team, with a background in sports, healthcare, and/or entertainment, seeking a long-term commitment to grow and cultivate skills in a fast-moving setting. This position will require cross-department collaboration, with the ability to support client services, creative strategy, activation, and business development. Candidate will be expected to have strong interpersonal skills, allowing them to, when needed, be part of client presentations, new business pitches, and other presentations.

 This role is full time, and is remote as far as locale. Travel to clients, conferences and events will be required on occasion.

Essential Functions

1. Strategic Planning & Client Services (Current Client Delivery)

  • Account Support: Deliver insights and strategic recommendations to Playbook Account Services, Activation, and Experiential teams to support cross-organizational goals.

  • Retainer Strategy: Provide strategic support for retainer/consulting clients by developing marketing strategies aligned with business objectives and providing insights on how to achieve client goals.

  • Project Leadership: Lead client relations and execution for clients solely scoped for research projects.

  • Campaign Measurement: Track KPIs for marketing campaigns, analyze metrics (impressions, ROI, engagement), and develop reports to communicate performance to stakeholders.

2. Development of the "Playbook Performance Center" (Innovation)

  • Strategic Architecture: Oversee the expansion and growth of the Playbook Performance Center, creating normative data models to house sponsorship impact and ROI study data.

  • AI & Tech Integration: Lead the integration of AI agents and LLMs (e.g., Gemini, Copilot) to streamline data ingestion and analysis. This includes connecting these agents with visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) to automate insights.

  • Vendor & Developer Management: Serve as the product owner for internal tools; source and manage third-party contractors or developers to execute the coding and technical build-out of proprietary dashboards and automation features.

  • Workflow Optimization: Utilize the Performance Center to streamline client recaps and internal workflows, ensuring data is accessible and actionable for the Account and Activation teams.

3. Research, Data Management & Reporting

  • Data Collection Strategy: Work with third-party partners to develop and oversee the coordination of key data capture, including surveys, syndicated research, and other metrics.

  • Dashboards & Visualization: Develop and/or oversee the development of dashboards to visualize data for real-time insights, ensuring findings are presented in an easy-to-understand format for stakeholders.

  • Market Research: Conduct or oversee the execution of market research to measure client success, analyze competitors and audience demographics, and identify key trends.

  • Data Integrity: Oversee processes to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and proper organization across all Playbook databases and reporting systems.

4. Business Development & Growth

  • New Business Support: Work with the CEO and President on marketing, prospecting, and securing new clients for analytics services.

  • Product Development: Develop new tools and "insights packaging" (e.g., "Playbook’s Healthcare ROI Index") that enhance offerings or create social/digital assets.

  • Vertical Expansion: Assess and support the expansion of existing verticals (e.g., Corporate Partnerships, Causes/Philanthropy).

requirements

  • Experience: Preferred 5  to 10 years of direct experience within the marketing, sports, or healthcare, with a primary focus on data, analytics and insights

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Data Science, Marketing, Communications, or related field encouraged.

  • AI & Technical Fluency:

    • Strong working knowledge of Business Intelligence platforms (Tableau, Power BI) and Excel/PowerPoint skills with the ability to develop client-facing materials.

    • Proficiency in utilizing AI tools and agents (Gemini, Copilot) to accelerate analysis and automate workflows.

    • Note: Proficiency in coding is a plus, but the ability to manage technical vendors who code is required.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong skills and experience with diagnosing and resolving complex problems, with experience with data mapping services preferred.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong analytical, decision-making, influence, and presentation skills.
