POSITION SUMMARY
Playbook is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Activation Manager who can balance client services responsibilities with experiential leadership. This role will report directly to the VP, Activation + Brand Experience, and will play a critical role bringing our clients’ partnerships to life through strategic planning, event production, and on-site activation delivery.
The Activation Manager will support clients from concept to recap - designing activation strategies, developing production plans, and ensuring flawless execution on the ground. The ideal candidate is solutions-oriented, thrives under pressure, and enjoys working both behind the scenes and front-of-house at live events.
This is a full-time role with regular travel required, including nights and weekends in alignment with client events and sports schedules. The role will be remote, however preference will be given to an individual living in a major market.
essential functions
Client Service & Strategy
Serve as a day-to-day contact for clients activation strategy management, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and expectations are met.
Translate client objectives into activation strategies that are purposeful, measurable, and scalable.
Prepare polished client materials: proposals, decks workbacks, run-of-show, and post-event recaps
Activation Planning & Production
Develop activation calendars, workbacks, and production-ready materials (floor plans, staffing plans, run-of-show, load-in/load-out schedules).
Coordinate vendors, properties, and partners, including fabrication, staffing agencies, AV, and signage.
Prepare client-facing materials including PowerPoint presentations, proposals, and recaps.
Faciliate briefings to partners agencies, articulating client goals, strategies, and Playbook’s vision for activating programs, in a way which leads partner agencies creative development
Activation strategy mapping, connecting dots of broader campaign through omni-channel approach including translating experiential programs reaching people on-site, and amplifying programs via larger platforms including digital, social, PR, and broadcast
Database collection and CRM journey mapping
Merchandise and giveaway programs, approvals and sourcing
On-Site Leadership
Lead setup/strike, QA branding, train staff, manage guest flow, and solve issues in real time.
Leading team of brand ambassadors at on-site activations
Maintain brand, compliance, and quality standards in regulated environments (healthcare/community).
Support content capture and storytelling moments that extend the experience.
Post-Event & Continuous Improvement
Activation performance tracking including
Capturing proof of performance throughout activation
Database building, archiving key performance metrics through including social impressions, on-site engagement, giveaways, opt-ins, etc.
Deliver recaps tied to client KPIs and Playbook benchmarks.
Identify optimization opportunities and share insights for future activations.
Stay ahead of trends in sports, entertainment, and event marketing, bringing fresh ideas to the team and clients.
qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field preferred.
Minimum 5-7 (or more, depending on seniority) years of direct experience in marketing, sports, healthcare, and/or events industries.
Experience leading brand development and/or campaign planning, innovation and creative ideation processes.
Data driven with the ability to review research and provide strategic recommendations.
Strong problem-solving skills with experience in diagnosing and resolving complex issues.
Excellent decision-making, influence, communication and presentation skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects from conception to completion.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to develop client facing presentations / materials. Experience with creative tools such as Adobe or Canva is a plus.
Experience with data mapping services a plus.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with high levels of professionalism.
Self-motivated with a desire to grow and contribute to team success.
Passion for sports and entertainment with an understanding of the role sponsorships play in these fields.
Positive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges, regardless of the task size.
Demonstrated ability to work within in a fast-paced environment and possess high levels of professionalism, particularly in stressful situations.
